Founded by Dona Maria da Rosa, who exchanged with the Franciscans this piece of land for the one, where they built the church of Nossa Senhora das Neves. It is told, that she took in and educated the young ladies, who arrived here in Olinda and also the Indian girls, too. The convent was abandoned during the Dutch invasion. The interior losts its old altars, but the ceiling of the aisle is one of the most beautyful of the 18th Century painted works in Pernambuco. It is currently the Retreat of the nuns of the St. Dorothy's Order.
