Known as the oldest church of Pernambuco and existed already before 1537. Founded as a chapel of ease, it was donated in 1596 the Benedictines, who built the São Bento Monastery there until it was transferred to the Place Largo de São Bento. Today it houses the abbey of the Benedictine nuns, who sell homemade wafers and liqueurs. In the sacristy is an outstanding baptize basin sculped in the 17th Century limestone.
