Essay

The way of the synthesis
near of the innocence
Marco Polo (*)

From Stuttgart, Germany, to Olinda,  Brazil, from the adolescence to the maturity, there is a conducting wire in the life of Peter M. Bauer: the art. As the loving one of the romantic time, that to the loved everything gives without nothing to wait return, Peter has guided his life in the direction to express his artistic vision, without having that to be worried of living of this. Starting for the painting, passing by ceramics, later the glue, investing in the tapestry and, in defintive, returning to his first language, in all time the artist was worried only in making his art. Each of such form was become attached to this, that always kept a parallel activity that more supplied its material necesseties, so that its art was compromised alone to itselfe, and nothing.

Thus, in Stuttgart, where he was auditor of the state; thus, in Olinda, where he has a boardinghouse. It  also serves as gallery for his paintings, too. But he goes here soon informing, to prevent misunderstandings, that he does not make souvenirs for tourists. It is the reaffirmation of his zeal for the independence of his artistic work. The visitor goes to take an art workmanship, not a part of popular artcraft.

Peter M. Bauer came from Germany, he got passionate himself for Olinda, and now he considers himself, with property, an artist of the land. He left notoriety and good sales in Europe. In contrast to as many people  that would give an arm to be famous outside of their counties, he wants to be recognized here. He wants to repay, with his art, the land that illuminated his palette. Herewith he gives a wisdom lesson: the important one, for the artist, must be his impressions and the visibility of this in the place where it deferred payment. The remaining portion comes later.

This teutônica allegiance its principles - although " olindizado ", Peter M. Bauer continues being an European - also is reflected in his artistic passage. Following it to it path, perceives that since the beginning it points with respect to some constants: the smooth simplification of the forms, colors, a certain caricatural fancy. An apparent one to make simple. Apparent yes, because he is simple with many " these ". Many " these " of that it exceeds the surface of sophistication to reach the nerves of the essence. The true art is so simple how much difficult.

This retrospect shows as the artist comes minimalizing its features. In its octupuses, invented flowers, animals, the superfluous one is of such roughed-hew form that some figures are close to the abstraction. Perspective, to see this work since its beginning so far it gives the sensation, always healthful, of that it is a workmanship and in progress, the path of the synthesis each time next to the innocent gesture. The mature Peter M. Bauer, without cheating proper himself, more goes undressing each time the weight of old traditions and knowledge, to reach , as " olindense ", pure and naked Adam, the essential art that he comes pursuing since the adolescene.
